OMHOF 2010 INDUCTION
CEREMONY- SATURDAY OCT. 9th
Special Performances by: Black & Blue and SHock!

Black 'N'
Blue performing at the Starry Night in May 1988.

Shock performing at the Roseland in October 2008.
The press conference gathering at Jimmy Mac's has announced the inductees for the 2010 4th annual OMHOF induction ceremony, which will be held October 9th at the Roseland Theater.

Rebecca Lomnicky.
That evening the house was filled by enough star power to light a fire during a monsoon. But an inferno was unleashed by an exceptional performance by one of this year’s High School Senior Scholarship winners, Rebecca Lomnicky. She is one incredible fiddle player who’s chops are as strong and flexible as the back-bone her instrument is made of.
Rebecca can easily play in very traditional genres like folk, gypsy and bluegrass formats- yet
Incredibly, Rebecca carries a unique ability to mimic a bagpipe(!), and since the fiddle is an instrument traditionally played in bluegrass or country genres, it was especially gratifying to see it pushed deeper within its capabilities. Hearing and witnessing her play ‘Amazing Grace’ note for note seals the deal.
Rebecca was unable to attend the Scholarship Award Ceremony back in June because she had a big performance that was previously planned, so she got to play unfettered to a key audience of fans, press, industry insiders and celebrated musicians like Peter Dammann, Denny Bixby, Rebecca Kilgore, Mike Quinn, Linda Hornbuckle and a couple of the Black ‘N Blue band members were on hand to catch it. They were all clearly impressed…you think she had this planned?
This years induction ceremony will be hosted by the hilarious and ever-entertaining Tony Starlight, who is sure to delight the evening. Concert performances by Portland r&b/funk super-band, Shock, along with one of Stumptown’s brightest star-bands from the 1980's- Black ‘N Blue. which is truly a rare occurrence by historically revered bands in this day and age.The band also sits atop the list as one of this year’s artist category inductees. Absolutely do not miss this once in a lifetime performance featuring all 5 of the original band members!
Be prepared for a huge night of wonder and amazement that ONLY the Oregon Music Hall of Fame can bring to you
This Year’s inductees are as follows:
ARTIST CATEGORY-
Linda Hornbuckle Started playing in church at age 6 and has never looked back. Those years undoubtedly formed one of the greatest vocalists to come out of Oregon.
She has recorded with many, including Dan Reed, Quarterflash and Nu Shooz She was also lead vocalist for both the No Delay Band and Body and Soul.
Linda has blues, gospel, soul funk and even pop under her belt. She's our local and national heroine!
Black 'N Blue began in the late 70's as a glam band called Movie Star. They got signed on with Geffen records for 3 albums, which included a hit single.
Guitarist Tommy Thayer took a lead guitar position in KISS in 2002, but will reunite w/ his original band for both the award ceremony and performance. Gene Simmons is letting him out to come and appear..he better since Gene himself once Produced the band!
Celtic artist Kevin Burke has been christened 'Finest Irish Fiddler in the world". He's got a five decade career. He met Arlo Guthrie and spent a large portion of the 70's one of the very best traditional Irish bands ever, the Bothy Band. He continues to record today.
Tim Hardin was originally from NYC's Greenwich Village in the folk scene. He recorded several demos, studio and live albums for Verve in the late 1960's. TWO of his songs have become historical classics; " If I Were A Carpenter", and "Reason To Believe" have been recorded by over 100 artists, including Bobby Darren and Rod Stewart. He died in 1980, far far too young. He is buried in Oregon.
Rebecca Kilgore is one extraordinary Jazz extraordinaire with over 30 recordings to her credit. Seems like we hear her name every other day in this category. NPR's Fresh Air has included her as a frequent guest as well as on Prairy Home Companion. She's performed in too many jazz clubs in the country to mention and has hosted a series on jazz for public radio.
SIDE PLAYERS:
Denny Bixby is from Portland and has played and recorded w/ the Terry Robb Trio back in the 1980's. He toured w/ Jeff Lorber. He moved to Nashville and recorded with the likes of Mary Chapin-Carpenter, Chet Atkins and other notables. He's playing w/ a lot of old friends since he's moved back to Stumptown and is recording solo material.
If you've been to the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival and have marveled at the incredible talent over the years, then you are already a fan of Peter Dammann. Chances are you were even a fan before that listening to the Paul Delay Band. Peter is and has been the talent coordinator for former, and was the guitar player for the latter. Dammann is also regularly cordoned to play with just about everybody great and small from the blues genre.
His pure love of the blues and guitar playing talents earned him legendary status in both areas. He's won multiple awards and is one bad mutha.
INDUSTRY:
Andy Gilbert took his education in music and business to open up his own agency after working for someone else for only 6 mos. And for nearly 40 years has operated the biggest talent agency in the state. Crazy 8s, Quarterflash, Tom Grant, Pink Martini; the list goes on and on.
Mike Quinn formed Monqui Presents with partner Chris Monlux. They operated out of the famed Pine Street Theater and made sure that nothing but local artists opened all their shows.
Today they are one of the largest promoting companies in the nation. Mike has also managed the Dandy Warhols, among others. Oh yeah…he also owns the Doug Fir Lounge.
Les Sarnoff is best known for his affable public persona for years in both radio and television. Not many know he started out an actor, yet it was his affinity for music that began his radio career at KGON in the early 1970's, then on to KINK until he passed away of cancer last year.
ARTIST OF THE YEAR:
OMHOF has added this NEW category, and who better to christen by example than our very own Pink Martini. Their outstanding efforts go on and on by never looking back, but their light has only gotten brighter as of recently. Thomas Lauderdale formed this stellar group in 1994 and they've produced several albums, DVD's and toured everywhere in the world…they even have their own record label. Outstanding awards go to outstanding achievers.
Doors open at 6pm, show begins at 7pm. Don't forget to bring your checkbooks for the silent auction so you can take home some great musical instruments, mementos and signed memorabilia, all while helping the cause that OMHOF exists for…music education.
SEE YOU THERE!!
